Michael Carter is a Senior Partner at Justice Law Firm and leads the firm’s corporate and business litigation practice. With 18 years of experience advising publicly traded companies, private equity funds, and entrepreneurial businesses, Michael has become a trusted counsel for clients navigating the most complex and high-stakes transactions and disputes.
On the transactional side, Michael has advised on more than 200 mergers and acquisitions, representing both buyers and sellers in deals ranging from small private company sales to multibillion-dollar cross-border transactions. He is known for his deal-structuring creativity, his attention to risk allocation, and his ability to keep transactions moving through challenging negotiations.
His business litigation practice is equally robust. Michael regularly represents clients in commercial disputes involving breach of contract, fraud, shareholder conflicts, and regulatory investigations. He has appeared in state and federal courts throughout New York and Delaware, and before major arbitration panels including the AAA and JAMS.
Before joining Justice Law Firm, Michael spent eight years at a leading Wall Street firm where he worked on landmark M&A transactions and corporate governance matters. That experience gave him an insider’s understanding of sophisticated financial structures and the expectations of institutional clients — an understanding he brings to every engagement.
Michael is a frequent contributor to legal publications on corporate governance and M&A law, and he teaches an adjunct seminar on mergers and acquisitions at Fordham University School of Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section and serves on the Corporate Counsel Committee.
Outside of work, Michael is passionate about mentoring the next generation of corporate lawyers, traveling internationally, and coaching his son’s Little League team. He resides in Greenwich, Connecticut with his family.
